Bree attends another day of Emerald City ComicCon. She goes as Beelzebub, a demon from the TV series Good Omens. Her fake makeup includes blood and maggots.
After the convention, Jan picks up Bree and her friend. Bree removes the maggots from her face, then turns to her friend and asks, “Do I have any left?”
Angela and Jan go to Crystal Mountain for a day of skiing with our friend Josie.
It turns into a fairly nice day with very few lines for the lifts.

Angela and Jan swing by Corry’s Dry Cleaning down the block to drop off some clothes. We get to talk with Edna, the woman who’s worked behind the counter at Corry’s for as long as we can remember. She retire one of these days, so we snap a photo with her so we can remember her.
Jan drops Lyn off at Amtrak’s King Street Station for a weekend visit to Skye’s in Salem.
It’s a spectacular day — the first day of Spring, regardless of what the calendar says. We go for a walk in the Arboretum to enjoy the beautiful weather. Along the way we run into our friends Robbie and Bonnie.
This spring we see an explosion of color along our backyard fence that we don’t remember noticing before. Our neighbors to the south planted a prolific clematis on their side of the fence that’s grown up and along the fence.
Evan returns from a winter term in Madrid to spend a Spring Break week at home.
While in Spain, Evan visited an olive oil farm. He brought back some olive oils for us, including one that’s flavored with oranges. One surprising way to use this oil is as a topping on vanilla ice cream. It tastes like a creamsicle.
Bree and her friend Charlie attend the Sakura Con cosplay convention downtown, with Jan acting as chauffeur and chaperone. For the convention, Bree has updated her Qifrey cosplay from the manga series Witch Hat Atelier. Charlie goes as the wizard Olruggio from the same series. They look great together and have a good time at the convention.
Bree and Jan return to the Seattle Convention Center for Day 2 of Sakura Con. Today Bree meets up with her friend Marina, who’s updated her angel cosplay with the gigantic 8’ wide wings — an eye-catching outfit, but also one that’s extremely awkward to wear while walking through a crowded convention hall.
In the evening, Jan and Bree walk over to a restaurant to meet Angela, Evan, and Angela’s cousin Leslie for dinner.
It’s a beautiful Easter Sunday. Jan picks Lyn up from her retirement home, while Angela drives Evan, Bree, and Leslie, and we all meet at Angela’s church in Buckley. There’s a brunch at 10:00 and then Easter service at 11:00. In theory Evan’s packed for his flight to Stanford this afternoon, but after the service he wants to repack so we all return to the house. Angela and Leslie take him back south to drop him off for his flight.
