Sabriya can sign! She definitely made the “More” sign today at lunchtime, asking repeatedly for “More” blueberries! She asked for so many that we were torn between wanting to encourage her signing, and concern for the fact she was eating her weight in blueberries.

She may have been making the “Eat” sign recently, although it’s hard to tell. She makes it by sticking half her fist in her mouth, so it’s hard to tell whether she’s making a sign or just sucking on her hand.

Bree can scootch around on the floor now. She pulls herself forward with her hands, and pushes with her toes. This works a lot better on the polished hardwood floor than on the carpet. It looks like she’s swimming on the floor.

Liya sold $1.50 in homemade sugar cookies. She helped Siri make the cookies, then Liya decorate them herself. She sold them on the street as part of a joint venture: Jamie and Lauren down the block had set up a lemonade stand, and Liya added her cookies to the products on offer.

For a Mother’s Day treat, we went to see Cirque du Soleil’s “Corteo” show in Marymoor Park. Leah Ericksen watched Bree for the afternoon, while the rest of us went off to the circus. Anya and Liya enjoyed the show. Liya’s favorite part: “The bouncy beds” (two trampoline-like beds used by acrobats). Anya loved a bit where fake chickens came raining down on the maestro.

Bree likes to scootch around the family room now. She moves slowly but determinedly, sort of like the Pathfinder robot exploring Mars.

When we ask Anya these days what she would like us to pack for her lunch the next day, her answer is always the same: chicken soup.

Jan and Anya walked all the way from our house to the Japanese Garden in the Arboretum—and back. Walking there was Anya’s idea, and Anya insisted on walking back instead of taking the bus. As we reached the top of the hill, she got tired. For a while she stopped walking when she reached the shade of every tree to stop and rest. Still, we made it home, a trip of 2 miles or so.

Liya’s coming SCDS kindergarten class had a barbecue at Callista’s home in West Seattle. Liya made friends with two girls: Katie (almost a full year older than Liya) and Emily.

Pebble School had their End of Year Program this evening. Liya’s Alligator 4’s class sang two songs, “The Rap Alphabet… Animal Rap” and “Many Little Alligators”.

Bree and Jan played a kind of hide-and-seek game this evening. Jan hid on the other side of an ottoman from Bree. Bree and Jan would both peek around at the same time, see each other, then hide again. Bree found this very amusing. She eventually crawled around to Jan’s side, and was surprised when he wasn’t there and instead appeared around the ottoman behind her.
